What our kids think of us...

It was my birthday 2 weeks ago (no, I am not saying that to make anyone feel bad, it is just important information for this story!). I asked Dallin what he was going to give me for my birthday and he said "a kiss." Very cute, but I decided I wanted something tangible. So, I pressed him again and asked him if he had all the money in the world to buy me something, what would it be? He said, "One of those exercise things...a treadmill!" So, there you have it. :-)

I am Suzie's sister and couldn't resist reading your blog. You guys are amazing and after reading your blog and my most recent I feel a little lazy and guilty for being so lazy...I need some chocolate covered pretzels. Happy Birthday and thank you for being the answer to my sister's prayers.

Hi Emma, Thanks for visiting! As you can see, not many people visit or know about my site (yet)! I will admit that I have been stalking your family's blogs for a few months now. Between that and running for hours with your sister, I feel as though I know you. :-) Please visit anytime.

Hey--I have been a friend to Suzie's family for over 10 years now--I'm the same age as her youngest siblings. She doesn't know it, but I've been stalking her blogg--I've read every single entry from beginning to end, except for the last 6 weeks since my baby's been born.

As for the Ogden marathon, I ran it in 2002. It was my 2nd marathon--I've run Pocatello, Idaho and The Texas marathon which is in Houston over New Years. I don't remember everything, but it starts up Ogden Canyon, and the first 6 miles is a 75% decline--it's slow so you don't notice it, but it definitely gives you a great chance to get some good times on your first 6 miles because it's downhill. I got my best time on the Ogden Marathon. You're up in the canyon, surrounded by rock on either side, streams and such. It seems like I remember around mile 15 or 16, coming out of the canyon, but maybe it's later. I know you pass by a beautiful lake, and it's really surreal. You end up down in the city, obviously, and you run by the Ogden temple and a zoo maybe? Anyways, it's really not a hard marathon--there was only one up-hill part right at the end, and it was only a 10 yards or so. There's plenty of snacks and gatorade along the way, portapotties, etc...they take care of you really well. There was well over 1000 people running it, and everyone gets a chip so your exact time can be tracked. It was definitely my favorite marathon. I don't know specifically what more you want to know, but feel free to email me at emilylemasters@yahoo.com if you have any more specific questions. If this is your first marathon, you'll do great. Nerves help out a ton--I'm always soooo nervous before I run. You'll have to let me know how you managed to take the time to do this with kids--I ran all of mine in college, when my time was mine alone. Now I just take my baby in her carrier to the workout room, and she sits there while I run on the treadmill. But I like your idea that your running time is yours alone.

Hi Emily! So, you're stalking my friends, too now? :) seemommy - emily and I go way back. Although we were different ages in school and never really hung out together we've bonded in a way most people will never experience. Is your curiousity peeked? You'll have to ask lemasters for the story. It is her's to tell. :) I didn't know you ran some marathons, emily. This isn't seemommy's first, but it IS my first. Wish us luck!

Hey Suzie, Of course I am stalking your friends! You have a great circle here in the blogging world, thanks for being willing to share a few of them with me. By the way, we need to play Settlers again. :-)

Hey Emily,

Thanks so much for your rundown of Ogden. Now I am even more excited. Ask Suzie how much I love downhill running!! Now I am dying for more information on your special bonding with Suzie. :-) As far as running with kids, that is really the reason I started running again. I knew I needed something for me and running allowed me to do it before they wake up. I love coming home and seeing my hubby and 2 angels still asleep. Although, Suzie has ruined me a littl because she doesn't like to run as early. So, now I come home, give my hubby a kiss and he is off to work at 8:30. :-)
