Mini Corn Dogs v. Chocolate

I decided I needed a break from the emotionally charged blogging. (and I am sure you all did too as I haven't had as many comments lately, ha ha!) I am still in my "no desserts" challenge but tonight I was just very "snacky." There was a bag of oreos sitting on my counter and a nice woman from church had left flowers and chocolates on my table. I was dying to eat either one, but I wanted to stick to my goal. So, I pulled out the mini corn dogs. :-)

What are your tricks for sticking to a diet? How do you stay motivated?

I allow myself to "indulge my cravings" by having small amounts of the things I love. Oreos? I would have allowed myself one or two. It can be hard to not eat half the bag, but that's the deal I make with myself. One or none -- which is it going to be? I'll enjoy the one.

I don't diet. And I try not to have the stuff around that I gorge on. Like extra dark chocolate Lindt truffle balls. I will eat the entire bag.

But mostly, I don't diet.

First, thank you for your comment on my blog! Always fun to "meet" a fellow runner. :)

Second, I don't generally diet I certainly could stand to hold off the sweets a bit, but I guess love my sugar too much! If I do try to cut back, it helps not to have the temptation around to begin with. Hats off to you for having so much self-control.

Finally, I am truly sorry about your dad. I cannot imagine the pain you must be feeling. I hope you find comfort in being together and remembering happier times.

So do you really think mini corndogs are more nutritious than Oreos? I bet it's a toss-up. :)

I think the only way to stick to a diet is not make it exclusive. When you say no desserts at all you loose me. I can diets that allow me to have desserts on Sundays, for example. That I can stick to.

For now, I'm on the Holiday diet. I think you catch my drift...
