Taking Control

First of all, how impressed are you that I am posting today's in the morning? Okay, now that I am done patting my back, let's get to this post.

I have never thought of myself as a control freak. I am pretty laid back when it comes to many things. I am good at delegating assignments to those who I know will do a better job. However, I have found that I don't deal well with things that are out of my control. Some examples:

1. First marathon- did not go how I envisioned it in my mind, but obviously there was nothing I could do about it once it was over.

2. There are days when I am so motivated to get things done, and yet these are the days many times when I have a sick or whiny child.

I am trying to be better about changing the way I look at the things that I can't control and having a better attitude about them. I also decided that I want to take control of things that I CAN control. So, right now I am going on a...

Sugar Fast!!

I can decide what I eat. That won't be affected by how my kids act, or what other people say or how the weather is. The healthiest I have ever felt was when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and did not have sugar for 3 months. So, I know I can do it, and I know it is worth it!! So, who is with me? Take the pledge!! It is 2 1/2 weeks until Thanksgiving and that is how long I am going to do it. (Also, if you take the pledge I will keep spreading the love and say 3 nice things about you! Or add to your list if you have already posted!) Start right now and report to us! I will edit this post tonight to say how I did.

Good luck, but I won't be joining you.

I have a *really* good reason for joining you (a nursing baby who is so obviously tired of my scarfing all the Halloween Almond Joys), but I'm afraid I'm still using the sugar for therapy. BEST OF LUCK to you, though!!

*reading this as I munch on a handfull of peanut butter m&ms...*

This is something I REALLY need to do. I'm going to try it...but how to cure the sweet tooth when your body rejects any artificial sugars??

I'm just out of luck...go ahead...say it...

I've been lurking here because I'm a runner "wannabee". I've exercised very little self control in more areas than one. It's time for a change.

Count me in.

I haven't had any sugar yet today and that's saying something;)

Val- You are committed to the gospel. That always impresses me. Thanks for being a good example to me.

You know, there is sugar free Dr. Pepper!

Katie- I am so glad you are with me on the sugar fast. How is it going for you? The main reason I started this was because I ate so much Halloween stuff.

You are quick to help others. I still can't get over how you helped me on that little note for Darion. You didn't have to take the time to do that when I gave you no warning. You are awesome!

Amy,

I wish you would join too, but thanks for your support!

You have vision. I admire this quality, because I don't have any. I love hearing you talk about the projects on your home, and I can't wait to see some of them. Can you do mine next?

Stacey- Thanks for the comment. I hope you will leave your blog address so I can get to know you!

JP- You are a strong person. I KNOW you can do this. Hey, maybe a little love will help.

1. You are a strong person!! You followed through on your goal to run a half marathon even when you were really hurting at the end of your training. Way to go!

2. You are very funny. I love reading your posts. I just need to make sure I am not drinking anything I don't want to come out my nose. :-)

3. You are very honest. You don't hold anything back. You are who you are and you don't care what anyone thinks.

Mel- Welcome!! Keep us posted on your progress with no sugar. I am going to check out your web site and then I will spread some love.

Whew! This is fun!
